Chung-Shan Industrial & Commercial School, the first private school in Kaohsiung District, was founded by local elites and enthusiastic educators in 1957. At that time, it was named "Chung-Shan High School" in memory of the great achievements of Sun Yat-Sen, the Father of the Nation. However, due to changing board members and poor management, the number of enrolled students dropped to an abysmal 47. Finally, in 1974, the local gentry reorganized the board of directors, renaming the school "Chung Shan Industrial & Commercial School" the following year. Mr. Cai Lai-Fu became the first chairman, Mr. Cai Hua-Shan the principal, and Mr. Chen Kuo-Ching the vice principal and director of academic affairs. In 1977, Mr. Chen Kuo-Ching served as the second principal. With an incredible work ethic and grit, he carried out arduous reformations. After more than 40 years of hard work, the number of students has increased from 47 to nearly 10,000. Due to the location and the great achievements of the school, Chung-Shan Industrial & Commercial School has been hailed by the education sector as ˇ§The Legend in the Mountainˇ¨. In August 2016, the principal Chen Kuo-Ching retired, and the former vice principal and director of academic affairs, Mr. Lin Chao-Yi, served as the third principal of the school. Adhering to the former presidentˇ¦s education philosophy, Principal Lin continued to promote various school affairs. In September of the same year, the board of directors was re-elected, nominating Mr. Chen Kuo-Ching for chairman. The school currently holds the record for the greatest number of enrolled students. The Ministry of Education has given A ratings to the school administration, academic department and curriculum. In addition, school academic evaluations from the Cooperative Education and Vocational High School Actualization and Homogenization Programs have been rated A+. Chung-Shan Industrial & Commercial School has been widely recognized and praised in Taiwan. In recent years, Taiwan's economic recession, stagnant industrial development, baby bust, and other factors have changed the whole educational environment. As a private school, Chung-Shan Industrial & Commercial School plans to look forward by developing new methods to manage school affairs, and also develop its own characteristics to secure competitive advantage. These are all based on the schoolˇ¦s own education philosophy, in response to the trend and change of the times. To cope with globalization, the school faculty and staff strive to cultivate students to have an international outlook, understand foreign cultures, and develop transferable skills to enhance their international mobility. We plan to break away from the traditional mode, interact with the communities, connect with the international community, and grasp the pulse of times. We are dedicated to building Chung Shan Industrial & Commercial School into a new cradle for education and learning in hopes of being the first choice for students and their parents. Achieving these educational goals requires the joint efforts of all teachers and students.ˇ@ |
